The Simple Garden Review and Giveaway

Gardening is all the rage, everyone is growing their own veggie gardens in their back yards, or in pots on their patios and balconies.  We have heard about the benefits of eating home grown, organic veggies, not to mention how much better their flavor is right out of the garden.  Even people who have never gardened before are growing herbs on their window sills.  We are a gardening family and have been for a few years.  My kids love planting things and watching them grow.  We are fortunate enough to have room in our yard to have a garden, but we also have some patio tomatoes as well as herbs growing in pots on both our front and back patios.  When I was offered the opportunity to review some gardening products from Fertile Earth, I jumped on the opportunity.  Fertile Earth offers a line of products called The Simple Garden, and when they say simple, they mean super easy.

....Just Sad

I know I have winners to announce and lots of other things to post, but I have been really heartbroken the past few days.  Saturday, early morning, our beloved family dog Tyson was hit by a car and he did not make it.  We are devestated.  He was the most wonderful dog and no other dog will ever compare to him.  I never knew just how hard this would be.

PB Knock Off Beach Sign

So I got my new PB Kids catalog the other day and as I was flipping through I came across this....

That "Sea" sign is awesome!  I had made a "Beach" sign in my bathroom but the more I looked at it the more I disliked it.  So I stole this idea.  Luckily my dad just took apart an old barn so we have plenty of old wood laying around.  I found a nice piece and sanded the crap out of it.  Unfortunately my local craft store only had one kind of wood letters so I couldn't do the mismatched look, but I still love how it turned out.

I used some rusty wire to hang it up....easiest project I ever did, hands down!

Help Me PLEASE!

Ok all you lovely readers, I need your help.  I have been wanting to switch from .blogspot.com to just a .com for quite some time now so I got all set to get 'er done (ok that was corny) when I found out that Diary of a Stay at Home Mom.com is already taken.....NOW WHAT?!?  I know my url is currently my name, should I purchase the domain agnesrhodes.com?  When I originally started my blog I didn't really put much thought into it but now I just don't know what to do, I don't want to change the name of my blog....or should I....anyone have some great ideas?

 

Endangerbles Review and Giveaway Plus Free Music Download

My kids recently got a chance to review and jam out to a great music CD called Endangerbles with music and lyrics by Fred Bogert.  This CD is full of great upbeat songs, especially for kids, that also raise awareness about animals and their environments, specifically those on the endangered list, or those that are threatened or vulnerable.  The CD is part of a CD/character/television show whole, where the characters are adorable animals, also from the endangered list.  I'm always really excited when I find kids music that I can listen to as well and actually like.  It seems like many children's music CD's are cheesy and then my kids won't even listen to them, but this was not the case.  We were hanging out in the back yard, sprinkler, slip and slide, and all, and I brought out the CD player and put this on for them.  They were excited and kept saying we were having a pool party.  My kids usually want their radios on at bed time and my son asks for this CD almost every night.

This is really a great way to teach children about respecting and protecting all wildlife.  You can also preview the music by getting a free download.  All you have to do is visit the Endangerbles website and sign up to be a deputy, then enter SSA when it asks how you heard about them, then you will receive a free download via email.
