Last Minute Gift: Bright Light Pillow {Hot Gifts for 2013}

Three days and counting until the Big Man arrives, if you are still looking for a gift idea for a child on your list you have to check out the Bright Light Pillow.  I love this little fuzzy pillow and so does my daughter.  There are two shapes to choose from, a white square or a pink heart and with a tap they light up with beautiful colors.  There are 24 LED lights that change colors and light up the dark with a soft glow.  I was skeptical before I saw this pillow in person, I was not sure how bright the light would be and how soft the pillow would be since it has a battery pack.  I was pleasantly surprised once it arrived that the light was not too overpowering and did not hurt your eyes and the battery pack was tucked into the corner so that it was not where you lay your head.

Thought the heart shaped pillow is definitely more girly, the white square is perfect for a boy or girl.  Both of my kids (ages 6 and 10) love playing with it and adore it so much.  This would make a great gift for any child!

I love the soft fuzzy fabric too.  My daughter likes to plug in her mini Christmas tree and turn on her pillow when she goes to bed at night.

This pillow is priced at $19.99 and is available online as well as in stores such as Walmart and Target.  I found it at my Walmart over by the trading cards.

Quick and Delicious Dinner #KraftEssentials #shop

We are always on the go, between work and after school activities, homework and chores at home, sometimes I feel like I have no time to cook.  I ran to Walmart the other day to get some ingredients for a quick meal and I think the family was happy with what I came up with.  So here is a super easy recipe that you won't mind eating as leftovers the next day!

I started out with some chicken breasts, a box of Stove Top stuffing, a box of Shake 'N Bake, some ranch dressing and a bottle of Welch's Sparkling grape juice.  The recipe on the Shake 'N Bake box says to coat the chicken in mayo but I used ranch instead.  I think it tastes better.  Make sure you coat the chicken well in both the ranch and the seasoning.

After you put the chicken in the oven, you can start on the stuffing.  I bought the cornbread Stove Top stuffing, its my favorite.  I used the microwave directions just because that was the fastest way to make it, it literally took 5 minutes.

It is so easy to make, just water, butter and stuffing mix.  Microwave it covered for a few minutes and its ready to eat.

I had to add a veggie and I had some zucchini in the fridge.  Just chop it up sprinkle with salt and dill and saute it with some coconut oil.  It is delicious.

The meal was a big success and it was well liked.  Everything went well together, even the Sparkling grape juice.  I will be making this one again for sure.

Hot Gift for 2013: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 {With S Pen}

If you are looking for an amazing gift for someone on your list, you have to check out the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 with the S pen.  First off, Samsung is known for their awesome quality products, ask anyone who owns one of their devices.  I am a proud owner of several of their products and would not trade them for anything.  Not only do they provide quality but their products are innovative and so above and beyond any of their competitors.

The Note 3 is a pretty large phone, it is bigger than the Galaxy S 4 but it is very comfortable to hold and the screen is big and bright.  In fact this phone has a very classy looking stitched back cover that feels great in your hand.  Like I mentioned, the screen is big and beautiful (5.7"), perfect for reading, watching movies, or a combination of the two.  The resolution on this phone is 1920 x 1080 so you are sure to see every little detail. It works on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Operating System.

The Galaxy Note 3 comes with another awesome feature, the S pen.  This tool allows you to "write" right on your phone.  Features like Action Memo let you jot down a name and number and turn them right into a contact.  So not more fumbling around with your phone when you are quickly trying to take down someones information.  The S pen has 1,024 levels of pressure sensitivity so you can create some pretty serious art with it!  It really feels and acts like a real pen and paper, very natural and precise.  There is even an artist community for for Galaxy Note owners.  This community is called Pen.Up and is the world's first community for Galaxy Note enthusiasts to share what they have created with the S Pen.  Its basically like an art gallery in your phone.  You can discover other's artwork or post your own.  Pen.Up allows you to interact with other Note fans.  You can follow them, comment on their art as well as adding their art to your favorites.  

Pen.Up comes pre-loaded on the Galaxy Note 3, but Galaxy Note II users can begin drawing and sharing with Pen.Up now by downloading the free application at the Google Play store. 

I always check out the camera on my devices since I use it so often, I want to make sure I am getting great quality pictures.  The Note 3 camera is 13 MP and the pictures look very clear.  I took this phone with me to my daughters music festival and recorded with it, my video came out great.  Sound quality was perfect and the video quality was amazing as well. 

Another one of my favorite features is the S Finder which is basically a universal search that searches your phone as well as the internet.  Use it to search your emails, texts and so on.

This time of the year, guests sometimes show up with out giving much notice, which can be so much fun. But you do not want to be caught without something to serve up. Its nice to have something in your freezer that can be made quickly and also tastes delicious.

I love serving Rich's SeaPak Spring Rolls. They can be thrown in the oven for a few minutes and they come out perfectly crispy and yummy. They also make a great snack to bring to all of those Holiday parties and get togethers. They sure beat out the usual cheese and cracker plate!

I am pretty picky about pre-packaged and frozen foods, I don't like serving party food that does not taste good but I was very impressed with these little spring rolls.  The ingredients tasted very fresh and the shrimp inside was great.  I found them in the freezer section at Walmart and I had a feeling that they would be good since there was only one box left.  This is a great little party snack.  You can do a variety of dipping sauces with these, the package even has some suggestions.

Apparently I'm not the only one enjoying these, the Ladie's Home Journal mentioned Rich's SeaPak as one of "The 15 Best Frozen Appetizers to Serve at a Party". Even the Today Show mentioned them!

What to do When it is Freezing Outside? #DiscoverIssuu

I despise cold weather....despise it. Yesterday and today were so cold, we didn't even let the kids go out for recess.  I could live in Florida, never see snow again and die a happy girl.  I love green grass and trees with leaves and warm sunshine.  During the warm months I am outside as much as I can be but once that chilly weather arrives I would rather stay inside, under a blanket.  I do get a little cabin fever and crafting is something I enjoy doing when I am stuck in the house.  I was browsing Issuu for some cool holiday/winter crafts and I found a few that I LOVE.  Issuu lets you check out tons of magazines online, its like Pinterest for magazines.

That awesome snowflake wreath looks simple to make and elegant at the same time.  Its one of those holiday decorations that can stay up after Christmas is over too, I just love it.

I also really like the little snow globes on the second page.  I have seen ones made with bottle brush trees before but these are much simpler and look really nice.  And since they are not typical Christmas trees, you can get away with leaving them out after the holiday is over as well.  If you have not caught on, I like leaving my decorations up after the holidays, mainly because after we take down the tree and put away the stockings and all the other stuff, the house looks so empty and sad.

I love browsing magazines on Issuu, they have tons of awesome content and ideas, and not just for crafts but for everything you can think of.

That snowflake wreath is something that the kids could probably help you with also, or they could make their own versions to hang in their rooms.  My kids love cutting out snowflakes out of paper so this craft would be perfect for them.

Help! Searching for a #SchillerHound

I don't usually ask for help on here but I really do need some help today.  My mother's dog Copper was hit by a car and did not make it.  She is devastated.  The Schiller Hound (Schillerstövare) is a rare breed and I have been searching for a breeder, rescue or club but have not been able to find one anywhere.

She actually took this dog in from someone off of craigslist who could no longer take care of him so we have no way of locating where he came from.  She reached out to the guy she got him from and he also got if off of craigslist.  So this little guy had been through a few homes before he got to my mom.  She really loved this little guy and we would love to find her another Schiller Hound.  If anyone knows of anywhere I could find one please comment or email me at agnesrhodes2@diaryofasahm.com.  We are in Illinois but would be able to travel a reasonable distance to get one.  THANK YOU!
